| Description | Little is known from this artist so far, only that AURVANDIL was incepted in the year 2006 as a spontaneous, scornful, hatred-driven catharsis. After a few inconsequential demos, the voyage commenced. "Ferd" resulted from a lengthy immersion in Northland, a step in the wanderer''s northbound Journey. And AURVANDIL have truly succeed to drink from the nordic waters of knowledge and walked through the forest and grief of Hordaland. What you can hear is something unique, raw & atmsopheric, eerie and very indept norse sounding black metal, as it would have been recordet 91 - 93, for a long time no other record gazed our attention so much, was so bloody authentic. AURVANDIL managed here to trace down the whole spirit of northbound black metal so close to eternal elder giants, as for example Enslaved have been with their early works (Yggdrasill / Hordanes Land / Vikingligr Veldi). With "Ferd" first traced have been left in the snow, but the yourney will continue...About the Bandname: In Norse mythology, Aurvandil was a giant who was carried by Thor in a basket across the Elivagar ice rivers. When the cold waters froze Aurvandil''s toe Thor broke it off and placed it in the night sky as a star. He was the husband of the witch Groa. |
