Description | The album was initially released on the 1st of May, 2010, under the moniker of "Opus Dei", the first name chosen by the band. Unfortunately, just in the day chosen to launch in the market the new Steve Sylvester''s work, the homonymous religious association thought it well to send through their lawyers, a formal warning to the band and his label, ordering the immediate cessation of the use of that name, as it thought offensive the approach between a rock band and the High Prelature staff of the Catholic Church. It did not serve to nothing to object that the latin words in common use " divine opera" chosen by the band, did not have any connection with the work of the homonymous sect, and that the lyrics of the songs did not contain any reference or provocation towards them. All the printed copies of the CD had to be withdrawn and the project had to undergo several months of suspension before his reappearance on the market under the new name of W.O.G.U.E. W.O.G.U.E. (= Work Of God United Entertainment) are five musicians whose background is variously connected to " Dark-Rock" music. The band was born in 2007 from the meeting between Steve Sylvester: singer, leader and composer of the seminal DEATH SS, the most famous italian dark metal band , and JJM Masini, bass-player, well known producer and composer in Florence''s dark-wave scene, former member of the cult band SOUL HUNTERS and more recently one-man-band in the breakbeat project " Weird Uncle Betty". The line-up is completed by keyboard-player and producer Freddy Delirio, also from DEATH SS, Gherardo "Ghez" Monti, guitar-player and renowned sound-engineer, and the ex model and session-man Lorenzo " Carranza" Calonaci on drums. The musical infuences of W.O.G.U.E. are varied: starting from the dark-progressive rock of bands from the ''70s like Black Widow, through the POP dark - wave ot the'' 80es of Sisters Of Mercy and Depeche Mode to the industrial-noise of early Nine Inch Nails. |
