| Description | Hailing from the north of sweden, the Pookie Syndrome is a fierce hardcorepunk quartet from Piteå. Their follow up record a Selftitled 7"EP is chaotic musical trip that provides short punchy hardcorepunk songs with three screaming vocalist, mix that with exprimental and progressive ideas and you have the essance of the band, its all in the mix. Formed in 2001 by Henrik Johansson and Kristoffer Bäckström together with Marcus Lidman. The band started as a more mellow punkband and quickly recorded their first demo called "All Violent Anger" in 2002, but aldready on their second demo recording from late 2002 called "Fucktard" the bands interest for faster and more aggressive form of punk and hardcore became obvious. Only months later in early 2003 the band recorded their third demo called "I Will Kick You In The Face" displayed by far their most direct, brutal and pissed off songs turning out more hardcore with black metal vibes, and with lyrics criticizing their small town surroundings but also socity in general. First couple off shows followed in 2003. The band kept their productivity and recorded yet another demo during 2003 which to date never has been released. In 2004 they released their first EP called "Ambushed By Fascists". The EP showed more musical maturity with progressive ideas and more intricate song structures without loosing the frustration and anger in their sound resulting in both instrumental tracks aswell as their own style typical hardcorepunk. Immediately after the release the band headed out on their first swedish tour. In 2005 a change felt needed and they recruited a second guitarplayer, Lars Kyösti to add more diversity, melodies and disharmonics. No time wasted as the band headed back to the studio to record their first Full-lenght album in may 2005. The album KAOS was released by Discouraged Records may 2006 on which they defined their sound displaying a darker, chaotic mix of hardcore, punk and metal. Extended tour followed in sweden, norway and finland. The follow up to their debut album KAOS, this selftitled EP (maybe their last?) hits you with 4 songs of even darker and more chaotic hardcorepunk than the album. Recorded inbetween swedish and norwegian touring, summer of 2006. |
