| Description | Natalie Merchant announced she was leaving the band on MTV on August 5, 1993, saying she "didn''t want art by committee anymore." The MTV Unplugged album was released on 26th October, 1993. "The last 10,000 Maniacs gig was the first time I''d got drunk in nearly two years," Merchant later recalled. "I laughed a lot and threw lots of flowers out of the hotel window." The Show featured on this CD comes from the band''s appearance at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on 3rd June 1993, shortly before Merchant''s departure from the band. Taken from an FM Radio Broadcast of the concert, and featuring near perfect audio sound and a delightful set- list to boot, this remarkable band are here heard at perhaps the end of an era, but nevertheless in superb form playing tracks from their catalogue to date, and performing with such passion that this album may well go down as the group''s best ever live recording. |
