Description | THE HIGHLY RARE DEBUT OF AMBIENT ALIEN SOUNDSCAPES FROM DARKTHRONE''S FENRIZ - NOW AVAILABLE ON PEACEVILLE FOR THE FIRST TIME Neptune Towers was the project set up by Gylve ''Fenriz'' Nagell of Darkthrone in 1993, with the intention to explore a more ambient-driven style as opposed to that of his main band. Fenriz released two albums under the Neptune Towers name, ''Caravans to Empire Algol'' and ''Transmissions from Empire Algol'' which came out the following year. What was, up to now, a rare collector''s item, ''Caravans to Empire Algol'' was originally released in 1994, with all recording and performances by completed by Fenriz himself. The material was very much focused on a bleak minimalistic soundscape, with strong, deep atmospherics. Inspiration came from acts such as Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze, and Kraftwerk. It is also said that at one point ''Caravans'' could even have been intended for release as an official Darkthrone album. This edition of ''Caravans to Empire Algol'' contains new liner notes by Fenriz explaining his influences and thoughts at the time of recording. |
