Description | Eighth (!) Studio effort for the English My Silent Wake, gothic doom metal band ever faithful to the cause and you can pretty much count among the most prolific, especially in the kind of reference. Yes, because all of these albums were written between 2006 and 2015 ... an average that would dwarf elite reality, new and old. But the fact that Our communications are not exactly one of those groups on everyone''s lips may make sense right away what this whole fertility is then truly indispensable. Yes, because "Damnatio Memoriae" is a record that denotes yes undoubted ability in composition, a beautiful sense of melody, a skilled hand at writing songs and functional formally unassailable. On the other hand, especially if you have a minimum of familiarity in the genre, it is a tangible amount of craft, if not even of ''autopilot'', which at the end is the host. The mixture of My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, Novembers Doom and so frankly has little say really unusual or surprising. However the compositions flow off without major hitches, and at the same time without a fight, including a rocking riffs, a gothic atmosphere, a never excessively slow rhythmic step but not too urgent, somewhat predictable run by double bass drum, suffering voices and so on. If you are hungry of sounds described above and good mouth, "Damnatio Memoriae" is certainly one of those discs substantially from the few claims on the part of a group of second (or perhaps third) side which some satisfaction the ve could also give. Of course, after eight albums, maybe something better - especially in terms of personality - it can also be expected. |
