Paul Chain started his musical career with the horror metal band Death SS in 1977, combining blood-soaked metal and shock-rock theatrics. In 1979, he formed his own band called Paul Chain Violet Theatre (while he was still in Death SS). Containing four songs, "Detaching From Satan" from 1984 was Paul Chain''s first solo release. Despite the album title paying tribute to AC/DC, on "Highway To Hell" Paul Chain continued his search for new ways to combine occult imagery with challenging doom metal.
