Description | To ease himself back into the rigors of performing live, Crosby played a handful of solo dates during 1986, with his final show of the year as support for the Grateful Dead at their customary New Year''s Eve celebration, along with New Orleans funk group The Neville Brothers. Held at the 5500-seater Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center in Oakland, California, the entire event was broadcast live by KFOG, San Francisco''s leading alternative music FM station, and David Crosby''s set from this glorious evening more than 30 years ago is now featured for the first time on this CD. The night''s events - which bizarrely included concert promoter Bill Graham being lowered onto the stage dressed as an eagle - found Crosby in good spirits and fine form, as he is featured here playing a sublime collection of cuts from across his career alongside new songs the long term composer had been working on. Included here too is an extended interview with David from around the same time, during which he shares many enthralling anecdotes about his career and his musical colleagues. |
