| Description | After the success of last year''s debut, the EP "We all face the dark alone" it is now finally time for the bands awaited first fullength album "Our astral circle". Moloken is a real hybrid, with roots from the alternative metal and hardcore scene in the northern cities of Sweden (Umeå & Piteå). The band plays a unique combination of early 90''s Swedish death/doom metal, British 70''s progressive rock with a hardcore undertone and raw energy. Their first fullength album "Our Astral Circle" gives you the ambivalent musical experience of both epic and straight-on songs, some with intense vocals, others more mellow and almost totally instrumental. All with good diversity, dynamics and darkness that all melts together under this 54 minute long album. Moloken was formed in the north of Sweden, in the town of Umeå late 2007 by the brothers Kristoffer and Nicklas Bäckström together with Jakob Burstedt. One mastodonic song was quickly created and recorded later that same year. After the recording was done, a second guitar player was recruited, named Johan Öman, and the band''s line-up was complete. In February 2008 the band played their first couple of shows and the response was immediate, quickly giving Moloken a good live reputation. The recording ended up as one 15 and half minute long song released as an EP on Discouraged records later in August that same year. The debut EP titled "We all face the dark alone" received excellent reviews from all over Europe. After the release of the EP the band toured Scandinavia, playing a impressing total of 26 shows within their first year. |
