| Description | In 1981, Chrysalis Records released The Best of Blondie, which went double Platinum on both sides of the Atlantic. This inspired the band to begin working on new material, and on 24th May 1982 they released The Hunter. An ambitious attempt at a concept album, the record failed to match its predecessors both commercially and critically, although it still broke the Top 10 in the UK. The Hunter also produced two moderate hits: ''Island Of Lost Souls'', which topped the Canadian chart, and ''War Child'', which reached No. 39 in the UK. To support the album, a 41-date tour was planned, starting with 19 stops in North America. The penultimate date of this leg took place on 18th August at Toronto''s Exhibition Stadium. Accompanied by a horn section, the group performed a selection of their greatest hits alongside newer cuts - including ''Heart Of Glass'', ''One Way Or Another'' and ''Call Me'' - while the entire gig was recorded for FM radio broadcast. Completing this CD is a selection of tracks from Blondie''s performance at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles on 15th August 1979, also recorded for broadcast while on their earlier Eat To The Beat tour. |
