SHOW FROM 1984 Only in existence for three years at the point at which this broadcast was aired, R.E.M. were nevertheless becoming a highly regarded international act having already achieved heavy rotation on the nascent ''college rock'' circuit in the USA. A decade on, the band would sign a five album deal with Warner Brothers Records worth a staggering $80 million and would stay with Warners until their demise in 2011 - but for now, it''s 1984. With this gig taking place just a couple of months after its release, the set features many songs drawn from their acclaimed second album Reckoning, together with notable debut performances of ''Old Man Kensey'' and ''Driver 8'' to appear on 85''s Fables Of The Reconstruction, and a collection of covers and rarities.
