| Description | The band was created in late 1989 by two like minded individuals: The Magus (bass/vocals) and Baron Blood (8-string bass). Their aim was to create original, powerful and innovative Diabolical music, replacing the usual 6-string guitars with 8-string bass! Their first recordings earned them a cult status in the scene since they were very original, ritualistic and utterly sinister! NECROMANTIA never hesitated to use "non -metal" instruments like: saxophone, percussions e.t.c. in addition to their standard metal orchestrations. This chosen path of diversity established the band’s uniqueness and earned them the respect of the scene worldwide and the recognition as one of the most influential bands of the black metal genre. “Scarlet Evil , Witching Black” is considered the magnum opus of the band! Released in 1995 as the second album, it literally set new standards to the genre, soundwise and musicwise! The sound was massive, raw , though strong and clear! Musically the first blast beats started to appear in a frenzied black metal trip of madness and condensed chaos! NECROMANTIA were of the first bands which used symphonic parts intensively as a part of their music, enhancing the atmosphere and charging emotionally the listener and sinking him far deep into the black abyss. This unique combination (for the time) of aggressiveness and symphonic malevolence made this album a cornerstone of a lot of bands who followed after and named NECROMANTIA as one of their main influences. |
