Description | Besides the debut "This Just Might Be The Truth", which was originally released in 1994, the label Startrack is now re-releasing its successor on vinyl. "Songs To Fan The Flames Of Discontent" was first released in 1996 and catapulted the band Refused from Umea in northern Sweden into the hardcore punk top league. The Scandinavians, who were known for their hard, uncompromising sound, provocative performances and irreverent lyrics, followed the album with extensive tours all over the world, for example with Kristofer Astrom''s Fireside, Madball or Entombed. For the single "Rather Be Dead," the straight-edge formation released a video that created some media hype. In the song Refused sang for the first and only time in Swedish: "Jag äter inte mina vänner" (Engl.: "I don''t eat my friends"). Meant were animals, of course. In 1998 followed with "The Shape Of Punk To Come" a third long player, then the "hope of hardcore" disbanded. A reunion followed in 2012, but it lasted only a short time. Vinyl LP. |
