Description | By 1972, after having spent a number of years writing songs for others, Jackson Browne was persuaded to record his own album, and his eponymous debut was released in January that year on David Geffen''s newly-founded Asylum label. Jackson Browne featured such classics as ''Doctor My Eyes'', ''Rock Me On The Water'' and ''Jamaica Say You Will'', and reached a respectable No. 54 placing on the Billboard chart. Browne immediately hit the road to promote the new record and on 24th of February he performed at the Union Hall in the State University of New York, Stony Brook, NY. Playing a wholly acoustic, solo set which comprised not just cuts from his debut, but was one peppered too with songs which would first appear on his sophomore record ''For Everyman'' in 1973, this performance illustrates perfectly just how developed Browne already was at this early point in his career. |
