Altogether 42 tracks can be found on this 3 CD Collector''s Edition, presenting everything a fan would ask for. Especially for new and younger fans of Funker Vogt this is a good chance to complete their collection. Here they will find the classic club-hits like "Date of Expiration", "Final Thrill" und "History" which are still present in the current playlists of the DJs and which are still played live at the Funker Vogt concerts. Moreover this Collector''s Edition contains the extremely rare tracks like "Refugees", "Whenever a Child dies" and the B-sides "Second World", "Chessmen''s Square" and "Traumatic Event". The aforementioned track can also be found as a remix by the famous GOA-expert DJ-Bim. For the first time, the listener will get a view behind the scenes and can discover the evolution of a song from the very first demo-edit (Fallen Man, Final Thrill) towards the final version. And as if this is not already enough, the Revivor CD presents the interpretation of the Survivor songs by famous scene acts as Icon of Coil, Dance or Die, Haujobb or T.O.Y. Gerrit Thomas, the producer and mastermind behind Funker Vogt, has again chosen RepoRecords for the release of his back catalogue titles, just as he did in the past. RepoRecords is run by real Funker Vogt insiders (Kai Schmidt and Bjoern Boettcher), which are specialized in the Funker Vogt material. Coming from the same hometown (Hameln, the city famous for the "pied piper"), RepoRecords aims to remain the precious Funker Vogt catalogue and to make it available for the younger generation. Funker Vogt Survivor (Original Release Info 2002): Funker Vogt''s ''''Survivor'''' is one of the last, true agro-industrial acts remaining. ''''Survivor'''' reflects the band''s enduring spirit and offers a refreshing complexity not seen in previous releases. Survivor presents the future in a rather dark scenario, the titular hero being the last of mankind. And furthermore the Survivor reflects also the history of Funker Vogt itself. Despite a few quarrels with some labels and the prophecies of various critics, FV are still alive and kicking, going from strength to strength with each new album. Survivor''s story is pictorially presented on the cover and explicitly told in the booklet. The cover presents a talisman or dogtag sinking to the bottom of the sea. The talisman belongs to Survivor and at the same time acts as FV''s logo, symbolising both the endurance of Survivor and of FV. It will last and outlast even the Survivor. FV is immortal. Survivor reappears in the lyrics, where he tells the story of the wars he was in (This World), of his time as a soldier and its consequences (Compulsions), He tells the story of the POWs, which may be allegorically read as the history of the decline and fall of our society, of his dreams and wishes (Final Thrill), of his discontent with present-day society (Stolen Thoughts), of his search for fulfilment and rest (Faster Live), of his experiences as refugee (Refugees). In Red Queen his stories are rounded off: as in the beginning of the album (Date of Expiration), the Survivor does not narrate his stories, but addresses the listener directly and analyses not his own life but that of the listener. Whether the cap fits or not, is up to every listener to decide. Musically, the album offers something new, presenting for the first time guitarist TK live. Both Fallen Man and Red Queen profit from this intense use of the guitar. Moreover, the album contains FV''s first ballad, while some songs vary of what we have done in the past, adding variety and richness to other songs in the typical FV-style. We trust the complexity of the album will satisfy many and the most critical tastes. |
