Description Reissue. Katatonia, formed in 1991 by Anders Nyström and Jonas Renkse, began with a gothic doom/death metal style, gaining acclaim with their 1993 debut Dance of December Souls. Evolving into a progressive metal cornerstone, the band released Viva Emptiness, their sixth studio album, in 2003. Recorded at Stockholm''s Soundtrade Studios, the album refined their melodic dark rock/metal sound and is regarded as one of their strongest works, even surpassing the acclaimed Last Fair Deal Gone Down. This edition features the original 2003 audio mix and Travis Smith''s original artwork. Marbled Vinyl LP.
